The Soul of Lincoln's Land

Print

The land holds some kind of secret that cannot be unearthed by reading a book.It feels mysterious and majestic at the same time.

This is not necessarily Lincoln’s land but rather, it is God’s land, to be used for His purposes.

The land feels alive as if it has something to say if one can be still and listen.

Stepping onto the land makes you feel connected to its “soul”, that somehow I am a part of its history and its future and its present state.

The real heritage of Lincoln and spirit of God rests all around this land. The trees, the grass, the air speak of Him and his servant (Lincoln) who fought against something so perverse in the world that he had to give his life to change its course.

To understand the connection between God and Lincoln and the real purpose of their union you must step onto its soil and absorbs the spirit of the land. The real “story” of Lincoln is here – not in text books.

On the other side of a simple line of trees lies a popular place, where visitors gather and take in the taught history of a man. They come and they go, never driving quite far enough East to find what they are actually looking to see and experience. The land sits quietly to those distracted by the world but shines brightly to those who are aligned with a higher purpose.

I felt sad to leave, as if I was leaving a good friend until another time yet to be determined. It needs our help to fulfill its purpose.
